Thickness Measurement – Sagnik NDE
Thickness measurement is a crucial non-destructive testing (NDT) method used to evaluate the remaining wall thickness of a material without cutting or damaging it. Sagnik NDE employs advanced techniques to ensure accurate and reliable readings, helping industries monitor corrosion, erosion, and material wear.
How It Works
- A transducer or probe sends ultrasonic or electromagnetic waves into the material.
- The waves reflect from the back wall or opposite surface of the object.
- The device calculates the time taken for the echo to return and determines the material thickness using the wave velocity.
What It Can Measure
- Remaining wall thickness of steel, pipes, tanks, and plates
-
Corrosion/erosion mapping
-
Material thinning in high-stress or high-temperature environments
-
Thickness under coatings or paint layers
