How it works
An RFT probe moves down the inside of a pipe, sending a magnetic field through the pipe wall and along the pipe. A receiver coil inside the pipe detects the magnetic field that has traveled back in.
Advantages
RFT can detect defects inside and outside of a pipe with similar sensitivity. It’s also portable and flexible.
Applications
RFT is often used to inspect ferromagnetic tubing, such as carbon steel or ferrite, or stainless steel. It can also be used on non-ferromagnetic materials like copper and brass.
