Thickness Measurement – Sagnik NDE

Thickness measurement is a crucial non-destructive testing (NDT) method used to evaluate the remaining wall thickness of a material without cutting or damaging it. Sagnik NDE employs advanced techniques to ensure accurate and reliable readings, helping industries monitor corrosion, erosion, and material wear.

How It Works

  1. A transducer or probe sends ultrasonic or electromagnetic waves into the material.
  2. The waves reflect from the back wall or opposite surface of the object.
  3. The device calculates the time taken for the echo to return and determines the material thickness using the wave velocity.

What It Can Measure

  •  Remaining wall thickness of steel, pipes, tanks, and plates
  • Corrosion/erosion mapping

  • Material thinning in high-stress or high-temperature environments

  • Thickness under coatings or paint layers
